AREVA Group was represented at the recent Mining Indaba hosted in Cape Town, South Africa, from February 6-9, 2012.
More than 6 500 individuals representing more than 1 000 international companies and approximately 40 African and non-African government delegations attended the annual African Mining conference.
Content at the AREVA booth focused on the Groups' global activities, the nuclear cycle, community involvement, Trekkopje Project and the Erongo desalination plant.
The Indaba brings the world's mining industry professionals, financiers, government representatives and investors together to engage in networking. Susan Shabangu, Minister of Mineral Resources in South Africa, did the official welcome. One of the keynote topics "The Politics of Climate Change and its Effect on Mining" by Dr David Evans had a packed audience of 1 800 participants. "AREVA is proud to be associated with the Mining Indaba since 2007; an intervention with major global role players in the energy field. Our dialogue and information sharing on AREVA activities at local and international platform are essential," said Alain L'Hour, Managing Director of AREVA Resources Namibia and AREVA Processing Namibia.
