The South African cricket team is currently on tour in Pakistan, where the country’s national the Proteas will play two test matches and three T20 matches against Pakistan. The Proteas’ captain Quinton de Kock won the toss and chose to be the first team at the crease in this historic first match of the two five day internationals. Mark Boucher who is the current coach of the Proteas will be hoping that his team can take the momentum of the previous win over Sri Lanka in January forward against Pakistan on this tour. The first match test match is being played in Karachi and the second test match is scheduled to be played on the 4th of February at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium. The last time that the Proteas played in Pakistan was 14 years ago. Touring of international teams to the country was halted after the attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009. The South African squad that is touring Pakistan had all tested negative and had to quarantine before the scheduled matches could be played. The final match of the tour will be played on 14th of February.

The Pakistan bowling quickly turned on the heat which resulted in touring team all out for 220 in their first innings. The hosts were already a 100 runs ahead at the end of play on day 2. Both teams will use this opportunity to try out different players in preparation for the T20 world cup which is taking place between October and November in India later this year. The last time that South Africa toured Pakistan was in 2007 where the Proteas won the series.
